An issue has been re-opened on the subject of online casino gambling in line with sports betting that has caught the attention of one prominent politician. Joe Comartin, a member of the New Democrat Party and a representative of the constituency of Windsor, raised a motion by means of a private member’s bill in line with allowing the people to bet on one single sports event through the internet instead of three, which was the original agreement. In addition, Comartin wishes to amend the criminal code as well regarding the operation regulations of the online casinos.
Comartin’s concern is that the people do not have the ability to bet on one online casino sports event (CFL games) alone but it must be at least three events to bet on. And because of these outdated laws regarding online casinos in use, it pushes the betting on sports underground, which then affects fairness within the industry and then lawfulness of gambling in an even bigger sense. Citing this concern, Comartin relates it to a certain King, dating hundreds of years before, that his problem with his men was that they gamble too much.
According to the law, one cannot place bets on online casino sports game singly but this does not necessarily correlate that the people of Canada do so. Most of them do this underground, thereby breaking the law and in engaging in illegal activity. Internet gambling is a very huge dilemma since most of the internet sites are unregulated and is being operated underground or illegally since sports gambling is a multi-million dollar business. Comartin only hopes that the federal law enforcers would be able to change the laws and the provinces underneath would be able to regulate them. And if his bill does get through wider sports betting allowed in the provinces, will only happen in gambling venues that are regulated and legalized to operate.
